Pomfret Community School
Lunch Program
20 Pomfret Street
Pomfret Center, CT 06259
Summer 2007
Dear Parents and Students,
The Pomfret
Community School
foodservice program offers a nutritionally balanced breakfast and lunch to
students each school day. The program
operates under the guidelines of the National School Lunch Program and the CT
Child Nutrition Services. Only
approved snacks and beverages listed in the CT Nutrition Standards will be
sold to students during the school day. The School Wellness Policy
adopted by the Pomfret Board of Education is
another tool to help ensure that our students have a healthy school
year. We are a “Peanut Aware” school:
peanut products are not be sold at Pomfret
Community School
.
Breakfast is served in the cafeteria every morning:
grilled bagels, cereal, muffins, yogurt, cheese sticks, fresh fruit, milk,
juice and water are offered. The cost
for a full breakfast is $1.00, other items may be purchased for $.25 - $.75.
The lunch price for the 2007/08 school year is $1.75. As an option to regular lunch, students may
purchase a yogurt “Grab & Go” lunch or a salad for $1.75. Water, juice, and ice cream are offered a
la carte for $.75. The price for milk
(skim, low fat, chocolate, and whole milk) is $.25. Please see the PCS Student Handbook for
information on free and reduced price meals.
Parents may want to consider prepaying lunch for the week,
month or the full school year. By
prepaying for the year you will receive a 10% discount, it is like getting
the month of February for free. The
cost for the year is $285.00 and can be divided into three payments: $100 due
( 8/27/07 ), $100 (
1/2/08 ) and
$85 ( 4/1/08 ). Cash is always accepted; charging
is discouraged. Please feel free to
call the office if you have questions.
Sincerely,
Maryann Emerson
