Vocabulary.com: Vocabulary, Free Word Puzzles and Activities http://www.vocabulary.com/ 
A free site that allows students at high-elementary, junior high and high school levels, teachers and life-long learners to acquire and retain vocabulary. Each free session has three levels. Each level has 3 puzzles with 12 words each (36 total words in a session) and contains seven (7) additional activities/exercises that help develop vocabulary. It is continuously updated. Latin and Greek roots are emphasized. There are themed word lists, word lists for particular novels, and subject word lists.

There is a downloadable widget that allows your to look up any word on any web page. Create custom glossaries and quizzes that you can print. Register (free) and you can publish them to the web. 

Scholastic Word Wizard Dictionary http://teacher.scholastic.com/dictionary/ 
This dictionary includes vocabulary for grades 3–12. Word Wizard is also on all Scholastic.com student pages! Your students can access the dictionary from their favorite Scholastic activities, articles, and learning games. (Uses the Wordsmyth technology)
