Class News | Parent Info | Academics It's hard to believe the second marking period is already over. We are all looking forward to spring and more outside time. The children are excited about looking for signs of spring and especially "bird watching". We now have two birdwatcher backpacks which go home with different students each day. Everyone is anxiously awaiting their turn. We have a daily birdwatcher report and then we identify the bird journal observations with our bird call identifier. The children love imitating the bird calls and hearing about what their friends have discovered while "birding". I hope you have fun bird watching with your child. Please help your child be responsible with the contents of the backpacks. Please let us know if anything is broken or missing. Mystic Marine Aquarium will be visiting us soon. The children will be learning about sea life and how they protect themselves from predators. Mr. Bob will also bring along his "touch and learn" animals for a real up close look at some living sea creatures. Be sure to look for photos of this special visit in our weekly newsletter. Cultural Arts week this year will be all about Korea. This is always a wonderful experience for our children. We have already met two students visiting from Korea. We look forward to the "Marketplace" where we will have our passports stamped and then step into another country. Please look for more information about our Korean dinner and how your family can participate. The "Week of the Young Child " will take place during the week after the April vacation. We have planned a spring hike to the Audubon Land, a special visitor reading program, an obstacle course in the gym and a special drumming and storytelling performance by Won-Ldy Paye (our visiting HOT school artist: www.wonldypaye.com) We will also be hatching chicks in our classroom soon. You will no doubt hear a lot about this activity. Please look for weekly updates, as we count the 21 days to hatching time. Each child will make their own book about their observations.
